Join us for the next UNDICI Book Club, our relaxed monthly book club in Old Amersham for those who enjoy a good book and a great glass of wine.

In November we'll be discussing The Dream Hotel by Laila Lalami — a gripping, thought-provoking novel set in a near future where technology can predict our behaviour, privacy is becoming a luxury, and even our dreams are no longer our own.

When Sara returns home from a business trip, she's unexpectedly detained at the airport. An algorithm analysing her dreams has identified her as a potential threat to her husband — for a crime she hasn't committed. Sent to a detention facility for what should be just 21 days, Sara soon discovers that proving her innocence is far more complicated than she imagined.

Unsettling, imaginative and frighteningly relevant, The Dream Hotel explores freedom, surveillance, artificial intelligence and the increasingly blurred line between security and personal liberty.

Monthly UNDICI Book Club

The UNDICI Book Club meets on the second Wednesday of every month at 7pm at our Italian wine bar and bookshop in Old Amersham.

Each month we select a title to read and discuss together. Some evenings may include guest authors or themes; others will simply be a table of regulars and conversation that moves naturally along with a glass of good wine.
