April was a whirlwind of bubbles, laughter, and a whole lot of Prosecco-infused fun here at Prosecco World. Our founder, Kristyna Weston, took off on a journey that was equal parts educational and exhilarating, from the rolling hills of the Prosecco region to the bustling streets of Verona for Vinitaly and all the way to the vibrant city of Bristol for the Three Wine Men Show. Buckle up and join us as we recount the highlights of our Prosecco-packed month.
Exploring Prosecco Hills:
At the beginning of the month, Kristyna joined a group of English independent wine merchants on a trip to the enchanting Prosecco hills. Immersed in the picturesque landscape, Kristyna had the opportunity to sample over 170 different Proseccos, each with its own unique character and flavour profile. Visiting 17 winemakers and attending masterclasses on terroirs, soils, sustainability, and climate change provided invaluable insights into the craftsmanship and dedication that go into producing Italy's most famous sparkling wine. A visit to the headquarters of the Consortium of Prosecco Superiore DOCG further deepened our understanding of the region's rich heritage and tradition.
Vinitaly Vibes in Verona:
Mid-April saw us in Verona, a city steeped in history and culture (and Kristyna's hometown during her University studies), for the renowned wine fair, Vinitaly. Amidst the chaos and excitement of the fair, we stumbled upon something truly special: Cantine Vedova's experimental Prosecco Superiore di Cartizze in Brut version. Breaking from tradition, Cantine Vedova showcased their innovative spirit by presenting this dry iteration of Cartizze, the grand cru of Prosecco. Who knew Cartizze could be so rebellious? Hats off to Vedova for breaking the mould and giving us a taste of innovation in a glass.
Additionally, we experienced the immersive world of virtual reality at the Consortium di Prosecco Superiore DOCG booth, offering a dizzying yet exhilarating journey through the Prosecco hills. Pro tip: VR and Prosecco might not mix well for everyone, but it sure made for a memorable experience!
Bristol Bound for the Three Wine Men Show
Last but definitely not least, we set sail for Bristol to spread some fizzy happiness at the Three Wine Men show. It was our first time participating in the Bristol show, and the response exceeded our expectations. Introducing our carefully curated selection of Proseccos to the enthusiastic crowd was immensely rewarding, reaffirming our commitment to spreading the joy of Prosecco Superiore DOCG far and wide. And when wine guru Oz Clark gave our 20.10 Prosecco Superiore DOCG Extra Dry from Le Manzane a thumbs up, we couldn't help but do a little happy dance. What does Oz Clarke have to say? ‘Dry, full-bodied with a seductive orchard blossom scent and some seriously winey depth, flavour and length.’ Well, that's exactly our kind of Prosecco! Thank you, Oz!
As we bid farewell to April and its Prosecco-fueled adventures, we're raising our glasses to many more sparkling moments ahead, as May brings with it even more exciting fizzy events. Why don't you join us at some of our Prosecco Tastings? Whether you're a seasoned Prosecco connoisseur or just dipping your toes into the bubbly world, there's always room for laughter, discovery, and, of course, plenty of Prosecco.
Until next time, keep sipping and smiling!
